Of the various activities we are carrying out as part of TAILLIQ, it seems likely that most tailings engineers would be least familiar with beam centrifuge testing of model embankments. We therefore thought it would be useful to prepare a video showing the preparation of a model embankment to illustrate the process and the scale of the sample.
This test is on a bulk sample of gold tailings that we are also testing in a calibration chamber, hollow cylinder, and a range of other laboratory elements. The facilities of the NGCF at UWA enable us to carry out in flight CPT tests of the model embankments (ideally before they fail!) to better link the state of the tailings to our laboratory element tests.
